Education Rita

Beginning: In the first few pages of the play, there are some obvious predictions to be made about the future of the play. I think that by the end of the play, Rita and Frank will ditch their lovers and become one. The whole play, Frank shows affection for Rita and she shows some.

Is there dramatic conflict: There is little dramatic conflict in this play. The conflict is usually about Rita's husband, Denny. Or it is about Frank and Julia. There are many different scenes though in which Frank and Rita have a conflict, usually Frank is drunk when this happeneds. Sometimes he gets unnecessarily mad at Rita when he is intoxicated and he gets quite mad.The conflict shows Frank's affection for Rita but I believe he comes on too strong for her tutorer.

The pursuit of Happiness and The Glass castle

In both cases, the lives of the characters are sad and unfortunate. But there is a huge difference. First of all, the pursuit of happiness is a movie and is fictional, therefore none of htis is actually happening. While Jeannettes story is true. But im going to ignore that fact and talk about the difference between the two fathers. Chris Gardner, the father in pursuit of happiness, is literally in the pursuit of happiness. He loves his son and his family and shows it heavily. He tries and tries devastatingly to sell his product and make a living for his wife and son. The unfortunate thing is he cannot for the life of him sell the product. In a couple occasions, he tries to get a job as a stock broker and fails. When he finally lands the job after whooing the boss with his cube toy, he finally realizes its only an internship, and you don't even get paid. He is devastated and his life leaves him. But he continues to try and continues his hustle.

Rex on the other hand, seemed to love his children like Chris did, but there was no effort. First off, Chris wasn't an alcoholic, Rex was. Rex disappeared on very many occasions and would come back drunk, angry, and seeking his wife. In some cases, he was even abusive. He lied, cheated and stole, and when i say cheated, i meant on his wife. Although Chris couldn't find a job, it was a different situation. Rex had many jobs that could have been good money, such as being an electrician in a mine. But he would quit, or get in fights with the bosses and get fired. He couldn't keep a job and its because he didn't want to.. Unlike Chris, who would have killed for a permanent job like that.

Rex Walls

Rex Walls is a very interesting character in the novel. I think even the most interesting part of the novel. Living with him must not have been the easiest, but reading about him kept me intrigued in the book, and I think if it weren't for his mischievous adventures, the book would be a quarter as interesting. He may have been a drunk and most of the things he did where bad, but reading the novel to me it seemed like an exciting life other then the malnutrition and poverty. I think when Rex dies, even though few years ago Jeannet lost all her faith in him, she still feels emotional and after all these years, she thinks about doing the skedaddle. "I had this crazy urge to scoop him up in her arms and charge through the doors, and check out Rex Walls style one last time". Even at the first Walls reunion after Rex's death, even Rose Mary claims that life was never boring with their father. When John asked to make a toast to Rex, Rose Mary thinks and then says; " I've got it, life was never boring with your father." It's kind of a sad ending to the book when they are all seperated and barely keeping in conact and even Maureen moves away to California.

The glass Castle

This novel portrays the damage alcohol can do to a family.. The father is a severe drunk and cannot cut his addiction. The whole family is affected by his drinking problem and you can see that the wife is scared to leave him. I believe she is scared of what he will do to her if she leaves him because of the anger jolts he gets when he is very intoxicated. In some ways I think the hardships Rex puts his children through toughen them up. I believe both parents are too lazy and unfit to be parents, but they for sure show love for their children and i am not completely against there parenting methods although they take the method a little far. The children learn how to take care of themselves at an early age and can almost live on their own before I even mastered my own language. In my opinion, they did a hell of a job raising the first 3 children and I think they will do good in life even though they started out with nothing. Maureen on the other hand came at a bad time because the fathers life is beginning to rot and he is around less and less. The point im trying to make is that a distorted family's children may have an upper hand on other children that are babied their whole lives.
